Cambridge wedding photographer
Sarah & Nick’s Sidney Sussex wedding was timed so well. The gardens looking incredible, the daffodils in full bloom and the chestnut trees in bud. Also, get this – the sun shone! Not a sign of rain all day. We’ve had the most unpredictable spring here this year. April is generally a time for showers, but for one day only, the air stayed clear and the light was beautiful for this couple.
As soon as I arrived at the College I familiarised myself with the surroundings. I’ve photographed a few weddings at the Cambridge colleges now, but each have been slightly different to the last. The chapel at Sidney Sussex is so pretty. At the door I bumped into Cambridge florist Emily, from Emily Tallulah flowers whose floristry skills are quite incredible. I realised she must have been the florist for the last Sidney Sussex wedding I photographed, as her style is so unique.
The girls were getting ready in one of the college rooms which was filled with great light. The bridesmaids’ dresses were a gorgeous shade of blue, and Sarah’s ivory skirt and bodice with lace top reflected the gorgeous light all day. I’m going to be asking Sarah to remind me who made these for her, they are so beautifully tailored. The seam detail around the hips on the skirt is incredible.
Guests assembled in the chapel before Sarah and her father made their way down stairs with the girls, and the boys were already settled in at the altar end of the chapel. The light is a joy in these chapels at the Cambridge colleges. After the ceremony I was so happy to capture some lovely shots of Sarah and Nick in the gardens.
Enjoy these Sarah & Nick! Many more to come. I hope you’re having a lovely time away.
