Leanne & James’ wedding photography at Kimberley Hall was all set for last weekend. Although it was quite a damp day for a wedding, I had an idea to make the most of the rain with some back-lit photography.
Lauren recently told me about the surprise she’d arranged for James on the day of their wedding. James’ other beloved blonde Daisy was going to walk down the aisle before Leanne. Daisy’s such a cute little dog! You can see how much she’s adored by them both. I’m a real dog lover so Daisy’s appearance was a magical moment for me to record for them.
Bridal preparations at Park Farm Hethersett
The girls were getting ready in a suite at Park Farm. I joined them there, just a ten minute drive from my home here in Norfolk. Daisy was there, having her hair done along with the bride and her maids. She’s ridiculously cute. The girls were having a great time when I got there. the bedroom at Park farm is quite a tight space to put on a wedding dress. I usually end up in bare feet, standing on the bed to get the best pictures. Quite used to gymnastics on a wedding day.
Wedding celebrations in the music room at Kimberley Hall
The reception seemed to pass us by so quickly. Before we knew it, it was time to be seated. There were a few spots of rain gaining momentum outside while the speeches were happening. I had something in mind for later if the rain persisted. I’m often asked what I do if it rains on a wedding day. The answer is I keep shooting whatever’s happening.
While I don’t often spend the time to set up shots, I had to make the most of the rainy day wedding opportunity. I prefer to capture moments as they arise, but it was worth doing! James was worried about getting his hair wet, so I gave him my flash umbrella to hold. He sheltered himself and Leanne from the rain and I shot away with some back-lit flash. Love the result. I hope you guys do too!
A brilliant day, a beautiful couple, a gorgeous venue and hilarious speech from the best man. Congratulations on a great Kimberley Hall wedding, Leanne & James! And Daisy! Enjoy:
