Cambridge College wedding at St John’s Chapel
Jen & Sam’s Cambridge college wedding was blessed with blue skies. The glorious college grounds were a perfect backdrop for their wedding day.
Bridal preparations in Cambridge
I met with the girls getting ready at the Regent hotel in Cambridge. It’s a short walk back through the busy streets back to St John’s College since the ceremony was happening in the chapel of St John’s. What a building for a wedding ceremony! Being inside the chapel feels like being inside a jewelry box, especially when the day is so brightly lit by sunshine. The chapel windows’ colours streaming through the windows were breathtaking.
Once the guests were seated, we waited for Jen to arrive to take a long stroll down the aisle to be at Sam’s side. The light was perfect during the wedding ceremony. I was allowed to exit the chapel on tiptoe and dash around the side of the building to another door to get another view of the couple. This was an important part of the wedding day for them. I’m glad I was able to get that angle where the light was spot on.
Wedding Celebrations by the Bridge of Sighs, Camrbridge
Celebrations were outside on the lawn beside the Bridge of Sighs. There’s a sign on the lawn that reads ‘Keep off the Grass’. Since everyone had gathered on the grass regardless, I joined them there among a few tourists. They provided an excellent opportunity for a fleeting couple shot or two.
Sidney Sussex wedding celebrations
Reception over, Jen & Sam and their guests walked through Cambridge town centre to Sidney Sussex college for wedding breakfast. The speeches were held outdoors on the lawn. Later, dancing and general madness on the dance floor in the marquee behind the Sidney Sussex college building brought the magical day to a close. The vintage marquee is in a pretty setting among the trees and parkland.
Congratulations, Sam & Jen on a beautiful wedding day. I hope you enjoy these:
