Tentipi Wedding in Surrey
Charlie & Jez’s ceremony and Tentipi wedding reception were in a beautiful setting in south west Surrey. The Harrow Estate’s St Nicholas’ church in the grounds is a pretty building, with parts of it dating back to the 1300s. The estate seems to have some magic about it. We’ve been waiting for rain to clear the heavy air for so many weeks now. On the night before the wedding, the area was granted its wish. Their Tentipi in its parched meadow grass setting in the valley made for a Saharan backdrop so suited to the tentipi design. Add to the scene a dead oak tree and you’re set! Just gorgeous.
As a Norfolk based wedding photographer I’m often called to other areas of our beautiful country (and beyond!) and that’s just one of the things I love about this work. I’ve seen some areas I’d never have had the reason or opportunity to visit. This little pocket of Surrey is a real gem, and well worth a visit even if it’s just for a walk in the woods. Or in my case, a hoop in the woods. I don’t go far without a hula hoop in my car, you never know when the moment might take you.
So the rain had cleared the air especially for this wedding day in Surrey. The wind was most obliging in its shaping of Charlie’s veil and the beautiful pure silk dress from Suzanne Neville. The day went so quickly! We were spoiled for choice with beautiful backdrops, the girls were great fun in the morning, and the dancefloor was speedily filled in the evening after hilarious speeches and delicious wedding breakfast.
Charlie & Jez got in touch after they’d seen Lisa & Paul’s wedding photographs on facebook. This is how I came to be in Surrey at their wedding. They were looking for a photographer who didn’t get in the way, they said. I tend to stand back for the majority of the day, shooting as the day flows. I’ve never held up a wedding day in my career. I document weddings, I don’t dominate them, so I’m pleased to hear from couples whose day is about them celebrating their love among close friends and family, not about the photography of a day. Charlie and Jez’s was a wonderful wedding day, full of personal touches and little glimpses into their lives together. The beautiful table place names of countries they’ve visited together were stunning, and made me want to dust off my own backpack.
Thank you again for having me document your day. I hope you enjoy these while I finish working on the rest of your wedding photographs. Happy honeymoon!
